Franklin Friday: Who you callin Little Man?

We spent a lot of time deciding what to name the little dog. Then had long discussions about what the proper middle name for such a fine gentleman would be. Because every pet needs not only a first name, but a middle name (his middle name is Sinclair). I often wonder why we bothered because I call him everything BUT Franklin. My favorites are:

Buddy
Little Man
Beans (Franklin = Franks & Beans = Beans)
Monkey
Franklin Franklinson (there's a song that goes along with this one)
and my favorite, Frankin.

Typo on Frankin's certificate led to my favorite nickname

What "unofficial" names do you use for your pet?

  2. Both Turk and Rufus get called "Baba" - which is actually also my nickname for Daniel and his nickname for me... so that one gets confusing. Turk is is also called Turkey, Turkey Town, Turkelton, and Turkster. Rufus is always "Rufies" - although we have to be careful not to call him that in public (we've gotten strange looks before). We always called Lucy Lou "Luce Poose" for some reason...it just happened one day and then stuck. It's a wonder our dogs return to us at all with all of these names! ;)

  3. Oh, there are too many! Alfred's are mostly:

    Alfie
    Fred
    Meat Head
    Monster Face

    and Bruce Wayne's are:

    B-dubs
    Bruce Nader (originally Brucinator)
    Muffin Head
    Peanut Face

but we are always calling them something different...just depends on the day :)

  4. Badger is also: Asshole, Jerkface, Badgehole, Shnerkshnashe (rhymes with Jerkface), Shnerky, Shnashe, The Maw

Mushroom is also: Myerky, Myashe, Myerkmyashe, Shroomy, Tiny Dog (formerly used for Badger, but Mushroom is even smaller), The Turd

The dogs together are: Dogholes, Someones, Shmyogsh

We love them - we just think it's funny to curse at them in a cheerful tone of voice because they don't understand.

Oh, and Glenn when he is super shaggy. He is a grump then and it's his alter ego. It started when our groomer thought that was his name.

  8. We have so many! Hades has been Hades Monster, Hades Michael Jordon, Beast, Itch Ball and so on... Braylon is usually Bray Mama, BrayBray, Bray Bray Breezey, Bray-lee, Bwalyon. Madden has been Madine, Mad-donna, Monica Madden-ski, and so many others. And no, none of them make any sense. ;)

I like Frank and Beans! Too adorable.

  9. I cracked up over this one. Because ... I also give my pets middle names, and I am one of the only people (besides you and my best friend, Jennifer, who is my best friend for many reasons unrelated to this issue, but it certainly helps that she not only doesn't laugh at me for giving my pets middle names, but also completely understands AND does it herself.) For the record, Tucker's name is Benjamin, but he also has numerous nicknames as well. Tuck-Tuck, Tucker Bean, and Fancy Feet, to name just a few. (The other kids also all have middle names and tons of nicknames. So great to know I'm not crazy ... or if I am, that at least I'm in good company!)
