We didn't realize that when you're low to the ground, you get caked with snow. That just letting him out in the yard for a quick pee requires a full toweling off. That snowballs form in his little armpits.

Little dog in the big snow
I'm not the most experience dog owner. Franklin is only my third canine companion, and he's by far the smallest. We adopted him in June, and didn't think about what life with a small dog would be like in the winter.

We also didn't realize exactly how cute a little furball bounding through the snow could be.
Small dog people - how do you deal with snow?

I'm not a small dog person myself, but the idea of little armpit snowballs is adorable, and so are the pictures!
ReplyDeleteEmily, I was never a little dog person before Franklin either - he changed my mind!
ReplyDeleteMushers Secret can help, but it's a bit greasy.
ReplyDeleteDo you use the musher's secret on fur or just paws?
ReplyDeleteWe had two small dogs in Michigan. I'd take the snow shovel and make a 'poop yard' for mine. But they had no inclination to go into the drifts.
ReplyDeleteOh, we have a poop yard. Now that the snow has melted, it's appalling! They have no issue diving right into the snow banks and leaving crap all over!
